First trade edition. 246 pp. Black cloth with red lettering and borders. In original paper dust jacket. Clean boards. Small light spot to front board, light rubbing to head; jacket is toned with some edgewear and tears to jacket. A few folded corners of leaves and occasional creasing, but internally clean with no markings. Introductory economics book aimed at the sixteen year old Helen. Belloc was a prolific writer, penning almost 150 books in a number of subjects, and being one of the 'Big Four of Edwardian Letters' along with H. G. Wells, G. K. Chesterton and George Bernard Shaw, who debated with each other frequently in the 1930s. The book was criticised for defining wealth as the sum of values, and failing to distinguish between interest and profit, however, it has been described interesting not as an introduction to economics, but in its affording 'some insight into an original mind'.
