Orig. published in the Strand magazine in 1912 as the author was trying to distance himself from his better-known Sherlock Holmes tales, this was his sole foray into science fiction. This is the Second Printing of this First Mass Market Paperback Edition from Pyramid (#G514), issued in 1960 to tie-in with the new 20th-Century Fox movie of the same name starring Claude Rains, Michael Rennie, Fernando Lamas, & Jill St. John. An image from the film in full color created by Tom Beecham serves as the front cover art; smaller version in black-and-white on back cover. In 192 pages.
