Light sunning at head and feet of boards from small chips in original, illustrated, tatty dust wrapper. Crescent shaped chip on B.B's. chest at foot of frt panel on jacket, but 90% remains, now protected in new mylar. 311pp text is browned but not brittle with an ink gift ded on age-toned fep, 311pp text is tight & crisp without tears or dog-ears. One soil spot 1/2" noticed in the lower margin of several early pages. Lovely full color glossy frontispiece and no other illustrations. Uncommon edition, one of 'Collins Seagull Library' with other titles listed on the dj rear panel of this classic tale that inspired the growth of animal humane societies the world over.
