Volumes I and II are the fifth editions (stated on title page and label); Volumes III and IV are the third edition, also stated on title page and labels. Blue green linen with paper labels. Labels are worn and chipped. Front endpaper is glued to the front pastedown in each volume with the stamp of Edwin Murtha (biographer of Paul Manship). Former owner's name is at the top of the (loose) half title on Volume I. Else good. Complete in this edition. 8 page ads for other Ellis publications in rear of Volumes III and IV. Set in the late 14th century, the synopsis of "The Earthly Paradise" revolves around a group of Norsemen who flee the Black Death by sailing away from Europe, on the way discovering an island where the inhabitants continue to venerate the ancient Greek gods. It soon gained a cult following and established Morris' reputation as a major poet. Not available for priority/expedited shipping. Due to the size/weight of this book extra charges may apply for international shipping.
