Doubleday Doran, 1935. Stated first edition, first state with title page and first signature 1/4 shorter on bottom, corrected in later printings. Very good in good+ clipped Dust jacket, with light chipping at corners, and small scrape to dj near heel. Light foxing to deckeled front edge. No former owner marks. A very bright copy, dust jacket design with initials SL and laurel in gold and green, and gold band at bottom edge, evoking the Nobel Prize standing of the author. Byline at bottom of front panel of jacket reads: "The Revolt of the Parents Against the Revolt of Youth". This novel, written in the heat of the stage run of "It Can't Happen Here", was somewhat overlooked and perhaps arose from personal reflections. From the rear jacket flap: "He discovers, through the presence in his children's lives of a young Communist.that he has to look for the first time clearly into his own heart and mind". A worthy investigation.
