3 pages, 255 x 200 mm. steel engraving, old gentle creases. Established in 1847 to “house and educate the children of those in his profession who met an untimely death or became unable to earn their living” it soon outgrew this large house in Wanstead and new premises in Hatch End suitable for 300 children was opened by Prince Albert in 1855. This prospectus can therefore be dated to between those events and invites subscribers to become a Life Governor at a subscription of 10 guineas, annual Governor for 1 guinea, or Vice-President for 50 guineas, each of which would have the privilege of a certain number of votes when the elections for places took place.
