Minor shelf/edge wear to green cloth boards with gilt spine titles on black spine panel - corners lightly bumped. New facsimile DJ is just beautiful and quite appropriate for this special Signed edition. Multi-color map endpapers with a touch of offsetting (at gutter). Deckled edges. Facing the title page is a bibliographical note listing editions printed. It has 21 lines and the last is dated Feb 17th, 1938. Underneath those dates is a written note from the previous owner in pencil that also states.this special edition must have been published prior to general publication for I was at Fort Ticonderoga in May 1937. This comment is puzzling, but maybe the previous owner had grey hair. According to Firsts Magazine January 1994: Arundel and Northwest Passage had special Fort Ticonderoga editions. ( Arundel was possibly limited to 500 copies) They had a special tipped in engraving of Fort Ticonderoga and the notation that - This book is one of a special edition autographed at Fort Ticonderoga. Northwest Passage had dates of 1937 (this one is 1938). Basis for the classic 1940 King Vidor film starring Spencer Tracy, Walter Brennan and Robert Young. The film was both a critical and box office success. Roberts's most celebrated historical novel of the American Colonial period set in the northeastern U.S. during the French and Indian Wars. No matter how you look at it, this IS a special Signed edition and Very Scarce. LOC SS-FB-02
