This is very early reprint, 1857. ; This first biography of the author of Jane Eyre came from the pen of fellow novelist Elizabeth Gaskell, noted Unitarian and author of Cranford. Cloth shows moderate wear to extremities. Old name penciled on front endpaper dated 1870. No other marks. Gilt on spine rubbed and hard to read. Interior clean, binding tight. ; Item laid in: publisher's flyer plugging three other books, 1857.
