(no dust jacket, probably as issued) [nice clean copy with only light external handling wear]. Music and lyrics for about eighty songs, ranging from old standards ("Auld Lang Syne," "Goodnight, Ladies," "Sweet Genevieve," etc.) to tune that have not, shall we say, stood the test of time: "Bohunkus," "Landlord, Fill the Flowing Bowl," "Nut Brown Maiden," "My Last Cigar," "The Polyglot's Wooing," and so on. As the members of the Song Book Committee explained in the book's Preface, this was the first-ever City College Song Book, and thus "the committee had no precedent to guide it [and] was compelled to use its own judgement in planning a first edition, with the hope that a second edition, better and more complete, and edited by more capable hands, will follow." (A tiny historical note: one of the three members of the Song Book Commitee was W. Claude Fields, the then-somewhat-estranged son of comedian and soon-to-be movie star W.C. Fields.)
